Prof. Dr. Siegfried Neumann got a PhD degree in biochemistry from Ruhr-Universitaet Bochum, Germany in 1971.
From 1992 until 2004 he headed the Office of Technology at the Chemical Section of Merck KGaA. After retirement in 2004 he acted as a free-lance consultant for R&D leaders in the Chemical and Pharma sections of this company until September 2009 and by this he contributed to validation of innovative technologies for drug discovery or enabling biotechnology which became identified as inventions at major international research institutions.
From 1988 on Dr.Neumann has been continuously lecturing immunochemistry for graduate students at the Faculties for Chemistry and Biology at Technical University of Darmstadt/Germany. In 1998 he was appointed honorary professor at the Faculty of Chemistry,TUD.
Prof.Neumann has been repeatedly invited to participate in expert panels for planning and reviewing national research programmes, which were funded by the German Federal Ministery for Education and Research (BMBF).
Prof.Neumann has contributed to the advancement of spin-off activities from academic groups of various universities, that is on projects for biotechnology or development of biomedical products, as a consultant or member of their strategic advisory boards.
